GuestMy brother and I started selling farm eggs to restaurants and small groceries around Al Quoz, nothing big yet, maybe 60 to 80 trays a week. Right now we are still using the paper cartons from the farm and they are a disaster when we stack them in the van, they get crushed and eggs crack, and the restaurants complain about feathers and mess. I keep seeing plastic egg trays for sale online and they seem like the obvious fix since they stack better and survive the van trips. But I do not know if restaurants actually accept eggs delivered in plastic trays or if they want the standard cardboard for hygiene reasons, and I do not want to buy a whole load of them and find out nobody wants them. Also how do you handle getting them back from customers, do you charge a deposit or just chase them every week. Any small suppliers here with experience on this would really help because I am still figuring out the whole operation.
