GuestThis has been bugging me for a couple weeks now. My 435i gives off this faint sweet smell from the engine bay after I park, but when I check the coolant level it barely moves and I can’t see any drips on the ground. I topped it up once and it’s been steady since, which makes me think maybe it’s a tiny seep somewhere that only shows under pressure. A friend said it could be the expansion tank cap or a hairline crack in a hose that only opens when hot. I don’t want to ignore it because overheating a BMW engine is basically a death sentence from what I’ve read. Someone on another group mentioned they got solid help finding professional BMW repair in Musaffah Shabiya when their car had a similar mystery leak that nobody else could trace. Curious if anyone here has dealt with a phantom coolant loss and what it ended up being. Also is it safe to keep driving short distances while I figure this out or am I playing with fire?
