We’re not doing a full gut job, just trying to make our kitchen and hall bath feel less like 1998 without taking out a second mortgage. I keep getting quotes that assume I want custom cabinets and heated floors, which is way beyond what we’re after. Someone suggested looking into Affordable kitchen and bathroom upgrades where they reface what’s solid and only replace what’s actually falling apart, which honestly makes more sense for our place. I’m wondering if anyone has done something similar around Palo Alto and whether the savings were real or if it just ends up costing the same once you add it all up. Also curious how long your place was unusable because we only have the one bathroom and I’m nervous about that.
